The Matric Ball 2025 is South Africa’s Met Gala for students , a prestigious, application-only celebration that goes far beyond a typical matric dance. Born from a vision to honour the journey of matriculants after 12 years of dedication, it shines a spotlight on those who excel not only academically, but also in entrepreneurship, the arts, sports, fashion, youth advocacy, and community leadership.

This year, the event takes place on Thursday, 4 December 2025, at the iconic Sandton Hotel Ballroom in Sandton, Gauteng. Known for its luxury and world-class setting, the venue provides the perfect stage for an evening of glamour, recognition, and youth excellence.

The application process ensures that every student has the opportunity to share their authentic story and be recognised for their unique accomplishments, making The Matric Ball a truly inclusive platform.

Be between the ages of 16 and 21

Be in Grade 11-12 (Matric) in the year 2025

Submit a completed application form

Be able to make payment once accepted

THE CROWN

Celebrate your peers as we crown the Matric Ball Prom King and Queen, A ceremony that is an honour reserved for standout individuals chosen through a blend of their uniqueness and creativity examined through the night. The Matric Ball honours those who stand out and take bold risks.

The selection process is based on the creativity and uniqueness of one's outfit as well as their entrance.

THE PARTY

Once the crowns are handed out and the plates are cleared, it’s time to go off. The music’s up, heels come off & ties loosen. You didnt think you were only here for a gala now? Whats mzansi without its party. Enjoy the night away until the clock strikes midnght and party like never before.
